Our story begins in Milas, Turkey, which is steeped in thousands of years of history. Surrounded by mountains, covered with Olive and Pine trees. I am from Brighton in the UK, and I met Aslı in Milas. We married and had a son.
When our son was born we were extra cautious about the products we used. Even the basics like soap and shampoo are full of chemicals. So we started to make our own using local Olive oil, and then experimented with other oils and butters.
I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years which means I look at what I eat and what I use in everyday life. I will not use anything where animals have been abused or used, and we all need to be concerned about what impact each product has on our environment.
Milas (Mylasa) is situated about 30 minutes drive from famous Bodrum. It has a history dating back thousands of years. It was the capital of the Carian empire before it was moved to Bodrum. Milas is surrounded by over 110 villages with agricultural land, producing anything from cotton and sesame to tobacco and Olive oil, including soap.
Turkey is abundant with plant life. Our mission is to harness our natural surroundings, and hand craft artisan natural beauty products. Our Olive oil comes from the local Milas trees, including our own which is organically grown, but not certified. The goat’s milk is organically produced from the farm up the road. The honey is organically produced in the local mountains. The dried Rosemary, Sage and Lavender is organically produced from our own garden.
